  • In 2015, The Children’s Museum of the Upstate served over 203,000 people: 153,000 visitors and 50,000 through outreach.
  • Since it’s opening in 2009, the museum has served visitors from all 50 states and over 16 different countries.
  • The museum features 80,000 square feet with 3 floors housing 19 interactive exhibits.
  • In 2014, TCMU was the first children’s museum to be named a Smithsonian Affiliate.
  • Since opening our doors to the public in July of 2009, the total economic impact of TCMU on South Carolina is $75,316,643.
  • More than 19,400 school children from 34 districts across Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina attended the museum with their classrooms in 2015.
  • Forty-three middle school students currently volunteer at the museum as participants in our Michelin YES! Program.
  • 676,000 students, teachers, and chaperones have visited TCMU since 2009.
  • The Fund-A-Family program partnered with 40 Upstate Nonprofits granting free admission to families in at-risk communities who may not otherwise have access to TCMU’s exhibits and programs.
  • Over 1,500 free tickets were distributed in 2015 through Fund-A-Family.
  • Our volunteers combined logged over 5,745 hours in 2015.
