For many of Greenville’s families, the cost of admission to visit any cultural attraction is an insurmountable barrier. Our Fund-A-Family program was developed to address this need, providing access to the museum for families served by the United Way of Greenville County and its affiliate agencies. The majority of program participants are facing a range of challenges including poverty, homelessness, disability, and abuse. Our hope is that by experiencing the museum and participating in specialized education programming, families can benefit from the positive environment and grow stronger as a family unit.
TCMU’s goal in developing the Fund-A-Family program isn’t just about providing families with a one-time visit to The Children’s Museum of the Upstate. Instead, we hope to see the program encourage those families who can most benefit from the educational experiences of the museum return time and again to take advantage of creative learning opportunities unique to TCMU. With support from the Greenville community, TCMU would like to grow our Fund-A-Family program by expanding our educational offerings and increasing museum access to other Upstate communities.
