Join us for this favorite annual event! Come dressed and ready to make a mess!
All activities take place at 10am–3pm unless otherwise noted:
Outdoor Activities - weather permitting
SPLAT!: What happens when watermelons and chocolate cakes are dropped from the roof of a children’s museum? How big of a splatter will a jug of water make? Join us outside at 3:30 p.m. as we end Mess Fest with our annual satisfying splat.
Station 1: Extreme Painting: Join us outside for extreme painting! We are exchanging our paintbrushes and sponges for mops and plungers, and we are even painting with balls of all different sizes. Our little artists will love the experience of painting with our wild and wacky tools!
Station 2: Kiddie Pool Car Wash: Join us outside for our kiddie pool car wash. Children will love getting toy cars muddy and dirty, only to make them clean again!
Station 3: Squirt Gun Art: Use squirt guns and watercolors to create your art! What designs can you make? How will the colors mix together?
Station 4: Chalk, Bubbles, and Water Play: Children will also have opportunities to play with sidewalk chalk, play with bubbles, and engage in water play.
Science Demos at Bib’s World Stage: Join us each hour for a fun and messy experiment. Children will be able to explore dry ice, watch film canisters fly in the air, make snot, and observe other science at 11:00, 12:00, 1:00 and 2:00.
Wind Tunnel Room – Discover It: We are using all our wind tunnels in this windy room today! See what happens when you toss confetti, paper, coffee filters, and more into a wind tunnel. Create your own flying machine to test out in the wind tunnel, too!
Glow-in-the-Dark Room – Imagine It: Join us in Imagine It for glow-in-the-dark fun! Our black lights and glow-in-the-dark sensory experiences and paint are an annual favorite.
Imagination Playground – Be Anything Place: Stop by Be Anything Place to play with our favorite big, blue blocks – Imagination Playground. These blocks encourage children to work together, think creatively and imaginatively, and to develop engineering skills. Adults love them, too!
Make and Mold Room – Off the Wall: Use air-dry clay, floam, or playdough to make and mold your sculpture! We’ll have tools, cookie cutters and more for you to create a 3D design.
Spark!Lab – Our theme in Spark!Lab this month is Animals. For Mess Fest, we are working on cleaning up our animals to make them nice and clean after rolling in the dirt. What inventions already exist? What can you invent?
Creation Station – Stop by Creation Station for our messiest and favorite science experiments! From fizzy concoctions to fun reactions, put on your goggles and join us for engaging activities.
Story Time and More – Story Time and More is all about sensory play today! Explore different ooey-gooey and messy materials in Get Up and Grow at 10am, 11am, and 1pm. Ages Five and Under.
