General admission tickets are non-refundable. General admission tickets are transferable. If you are unable to visit the museum on the day you purchased a ticket, you can redeem your ticket on a different day and/or time or transfer your ticket to be used within a year of the original purchase date. Please note all transferable tickets are subject to museum capacities at time of visit. Only ticketholders for exact day and time, and museum members, are guaranteed entry.
Do you have a reciprocal membership program with other museums?
At this time we do not offer a reciprocal membership with other museums.
Is TCMU handicap accessible?
Yes. There is a specified lot behind the museum off Academy street with designated handicap spaces. Individuals who need assistance may enter in through the gate at Bib’s World by approaching the staff member present. If no staff member is present, you can call 864-233-7755 and dial 0 to speak to someone in Guest Services. Many of TCMU’s exhibit components are wheelchair accessible. Please ask for more information at the admissions desk upon arrival..
Is there a dedicated space for nursing mothers?
A private nursing nook is available on the 3rd floor near the restrooms and elevators with a changing table and sink.
Are strollers allowed?
Yes. If needed, a stroller parking area is available in front of the More to Explore Store on the 2nd floor.
Can adults visit without children?
A guided tour should be scheduled in advance of your visit. Please email info@tcmupstate.org.
What is the minimum age of an adult/chaperone?
All children under 16 must be accompanied by a chaperone. No more than 5 children per chaperone will be admitted.
May I leave and return in the same day?
Yes. Admission covers all-day exploration. A wristband will be provided at check-in that will allow you to leave and return at your leisure.
Are lunch and snacks available?
The café on the first floor houses a vending Market that offers snacks and refreshments. We ask that you please keep all food and drink inside the café space to help ensure the safety of our visitors.
What is there for babies and toddlers?
Specific exhibit areas including Grandma Betty’s Farm, Toddler Lily Pond, Teddy Bear Clinic, Publix Market, and Toddler Construction Zone are designated to be toddler friendly. Programs are also available for those five and under including Story Time and More at 10am, 11am, & 1pm on Tuesday-Saturday and Terrific Tuesday on Tuesdays from 9-1pm.
Are there discounted rates or coupons available?
Museums for All offers $3 admission for SC residents who show an EBT card along with a valid SC driver’s license. This discount is available for up to 4 family members and cannot be used for group visits or field trips. Military and senior discounts are also available. Group discounts are available for groups of 15+ when a reservation is made 30 days in advance.
