This individual will lead or assist preventive maintenance activities involving both infrastructure and exhibits, attend to daily requirements to keep facility and exhibits in good operating condition, and check and respond to security or safety issues. The successful candidate should be able to perform repairs, aesthetic work, and a wide range of problem-solving tasks based on what is in need of attention. Basic carpentry, painting, HVAC, plumbing and electrical knowledge to support facilities and exhibit will be required, with a minimum of one years’ experience in any or all applicable trades. The Children’s Museum of the Upstate is seeking a candidate to fill the part time position of Museum Associate, Spartanburg. The associate will handle daily programs tasks and serve as support to the Programs Team; handle daily admissions and retail register purchases; prepare, facilitate, and lead camps; oversee and manage completion of birthday parties; and maintain a quality museum experience by tidying museum exhibits and interacting with guests. This individual will work actively in museum galleries to expand spontaneous learning opportunities that engage the entire family; assist with storytime, Spark!Lab, Open Arts programs as needed; and deliver collaborative and innovative solutions that result in extraordinary customer service. Additionally the Programs Associate will assist with preparing materials, patrolling and cleaning exhibits while interacting with guests, and assist with camp planning and facilitation.
