FAQ

Booking

What is the payment and cancellation policy
  • TCMU requires a nonrefundable deposit of $50.00 which will be deducted from the total Cost of Service. The deposit is due within 30 days of the invoice being sent. Upon a paid deposit, TCMU will confirm attendance at the event
  • If the Event is less than 30 days away, payment must be made in full to secure TCMU’s attendance.
What happens if my event gets canceled?
  • In the event of adverse weather conditions, the client will have to make the decision of adjusting or postponing the event. Next steps will be communicated between the booking contact at TCMU staff.
  • Events cancelled 14 days prior to event day may be eligible for a refund. Deposits are nonrefundable.
How is mileage calculated?
  • The price of mileage is $3.00 per mile. The mileage billing is created by calculating the distance from TCMU-Greenville to the event location and back to TCMU-Greenville.

Expectations

What will TCMU be responsible for when attending an outreach event?
  • Providing a fun, engaging, and informative experience for all guests.
  • Promoting learning based play
  • Leading and conducting all activities, demonstrations, oversee free play, and provide information about the museum and other areas as needed.
  • Taking the lead in setting up and breaking down tables, materials, etc.
Can I book a TCMU outreach event for childcare at my event?

TCMU staff does not provide childcare when facilitating an activity at an Event. TCMU staff will always act in the best interest of guests but cannot be held responsible for their safety. Parents must remain with their children at all times.

What would be expected of me when I book TCMU for an outreach event?
  • Communicating with TCMU regarding set up locations, set up and other day of information at least 48 hours prior to event day.
  • In a classroom setting, teachers must remain with the students at all times. At no point should a TCMU team member be solely responsible for children in the classroom.

Enrichment Activities

What is an enrichment activity?

TCMU offers a variety of programming and lesson options that can be added to your event or classroom. All activities and lesson plans explore STEAM concepts through hands-on and creative applications.

I’m not sure what kind of activity I would like. What should I do?

Please fill out a booking inquiry form and a TCMU staff member will help you decide the best offering for you upon booking.

Do your enrichment activities follow state standards?

Our lesson plans are based on the current South Carolina state standards and explore STEAM concepts through creative hands-on applications.

Staffing

How many TCMU staff members will be at the event?
  • All base prices include one staff member to complete the responsibilities outlined in the scope of service. Each additional hour includes the same staff member to facilitate the responsibilities.
  • When more than one activity is purchased at a time, additional staffing will be charged.
  • Other additional staffing needs will be determined by TCMU. Additional staffing is $12.00 per hour per additional staff member and will be added to the invoice for the event.
Can I provide my own volunteers for the event?

Yes, TCMU gladly accepts the support of event volunteers coordinated by the event host. Volunteer presence does not impact TCMU’s staffing decisions.
